Mechanical Engineer

We are recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to work for a manufacturing company based in Kingswinford. The successful applicant will have experience in light assembly production facilities. The company are a forward thinking company who will offer a very competitive basic salary for the right person.

Purpose of the role :
To create and develop design solutions for Handicare based projects. To provide engineering designs which comply with the appropriate regulatory requirements, detailed to a high standard to facilitate manufacture.

Profile :
An experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with good conceptual and practical skills to work within the R&D Engineering team.

Responsibilities :
Concept design solutions to meet technical, quality, time and cost requirements
Produce engineering layouts using SolidWorks CAD
Undertake appropriate analysis to prove suitability of mechanical designs
Produce engineering detail drawings and other associated documentation
Verify and develop concepts
Work effectively with other company departments and external suppliers to realise complex technical solutions in a volume production environment
Plus any other duties deemed reasonable, which reasonably correspond to the general character of the role and level of responsibility.Education/Professional Qualifications:
Qualified to a minimum of HNC or Degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, with suitable post-qualification experience within a Design & Development engineering environment.

Experience and Knowledge:
Electro-mechanical design
Product data management (PDM) systems
Engineering processes
Conducting engineering calculations
Understanding and using Finite Element Analysis software

Key Skills/ Abilities:
Sound engineering judgement
CAD literate (SolidWorks)
Good understanding of consumer product design
Highly analytical and methodical
Producing engineering detail, Bills of Materials, etc. to a consistent high standard
Sound understanding of geometric tolerances, tolerance analysis and other design principles which are critical to Quality

Working Hours :
Monday to Thursday 08.00 am to 17.00 pm
Fridays 08.00 to 14.30 pm (Early Finish)
