We are currently recruiting for an interim climate change lead in Solihull to work on behalf of the Council, this will be on a contracting full-time basis for 6 months.

The Group Manager will lead on the Councils' climate change initiatives and deliver key elements of the council's response to the climate change and biodiversity emergency, developing strategies and delivery plans that meet the council's ambition for net-zero carbon future.

The Group Manager will engage with key stakeholders, businesses and community groups to promote low-carbon and climate change initiatives within the Borough and maintain and extend the Council's high profile and reputation as an exemplar.

They will Act as the lead specialist, principal point of contact, and technical adviser for the Council in matters relating to energy efficiency and carbon reduction, providing and promoting expert advice to departments across the Council, Cabinet, Local Residents, Developers, Community Groups and Businesses.

They will Prepare and submit external funding bids for climate change initiatives, ensuring that expenditure meets Council business plan priorities for combating climate change biodiversity reduction.

Experience Required
You must have previous local authority experience leading on climate change and able to demonstrate your leadership skills.
You will have experience working with a range of stakeholders and be able to prepare feasibility assessments for agreed carbon reduction projects.
You will be able to provide specialist advice to colleagues to enable sustainable development, carbon minimisation and climate change adaptation to build into all council plans and strategies.
